RemoteThreat Launches $7m Offensive Cyber Operations Platform

RemoteThreat has emerged from stealth mode with $7 million in pre-seed funding to launch an integrated offensive cyber operations (O/C/O) platform.

The startup, backed by Osage University Partners and DataTribe, was founded by Chris Thompson (CEO) and Shawn Jones (CTO), both former leaders of IBM X-Force red teams. The Nakasone Group, established by retired US Army General Paul M. Nakasone, will act as a strategic advisor to the company.

Integrated Platform for Red Teams and Government

The RemoteThreat O/C/O platform is designed to serve enterprise and critical infrastructure red teams, US government mission teams, and vetted defence partners. The system consists of eight connected components, including mission planning and oversight, command and control (C2), implants, and an initial access framework.

The platform provides implants capable of in-memory execution across multiple operating systems and architectures. Its C2 system features configurable traffic profiles and is designed to run alongside a team’s existing infrastructure. Operators can combine payloads, implants, and post-exploitation tools while applying control-flow obfuscation and evasion techniques tailored to specific target environments.

Governed AI and Autonomous Workflows

A central feature of the platform is the integration of AI assistants and autonomous workflows. Thompson stated that current offensive capabilities face a gap between fast but noisy AI-driven attacks and human-driven operations that struggle to scale. RemoteThreat aims to bridge this gap by providing composable, tunable capabilities within a single platform.

To maintain precision and control, the platform incorporates “Rules of Engagement,” specific policies, approvals, and no-strike controls. These constraints are intended to govern consequential actions, while ensuring that all operator decisions, delegated tasks, and evidence remain fully traceable.
