Cyera has secured an additional $400 million in funding, bringing the data security company’s valuation to more than $12 billion. The investment, provided by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, extends the firm’s Series G funding round.
The company has now raised more than $2.7 billion in total to fuel its expansion and enhance the capabilities of its data security platform.
Cyera provides an agentless, API-driven platform designed to offer real-time visibility and context-aware governance over sensitive information. The technology covers hybrid cloud, SaaS, database, and on-premises environments, using machine learning to classify data according to business context and compliance requirements.
Focus on AI Governance and Identity
The platform unifies Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and identity access governance. By correlating data sensitivity with user identity permissions, it identifies security misconfigurations, over-permissioned access, and high-risk sharing practices.
A core component of the technology involves providing guardrails for AI operations. This includes monitoring data inputs to Large Language Models (LLMs), inspecting training datasets, and mitigating exfiltration risks within automated AI workflows.
Irit Kahan, a managing director within Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, stated that as AI agents multiply, the gap between their intended permissions and their actual reach is becoming increasingly dangerous. Kahan noted that Cyera’s position allows it to serve as a platform for securing these autonomous agents.
Growth and Recent Acquisitions
This funding follows the July acquisition of Oasis Security, an agentic access management provider, in a deal valued at $1 billion. This acquisition aligns with Cyera’s focus on the intersection of data and identity security.
Cyera currently employs more than 1,500 people and reports that its solutions are used by 20% of Fortune 500 companies.
